DIY-ing it

So it’s time for a big boy bed. In fact, Triptyn has been sleeping on a twin mattress on the floor for about 6 months. Ha, are we the worst parents? Finally, we got a bed from my mother-in-law, but it was a little beat up and blah. I mean, it’s gone through her four boys and my nephews. After looking at other amazing women and their blogs, I decided I could paint it. No big deal, right? Well take a look for yourself. Now keep in mind, this is my first painting project EVER! (and they make it sound way easier than it is, I thought I could whip it out in a couple of days, I started a week ago and I’m only half done!)

It’s not a true before and after. I forgot to take a picture before I started, so one is the headboard and one is the footboard. :) But you get the idea. I’m not done yet, but couldn’t wait to post a picture. Let me know what you think. My amazing husband just got home from work and told me it looks girly :( Way to shoot a girl down after all her hard work. I will post a picture of how it looks in his room when he’s not sleeping in there!

Finally, I think my blog is somewhat up to date! I always dread blogging because my internet connection is terrible and it would always take FOREVER to upload pictures, but I just discovered Windows Live Writer, and it is AMAZING! Seriously, I might just update more often now. :)

4th of July

I love summertime, and the 4th is one of my favorite holidays! This year instead of going to the parade, we had our own parade with the Holst Family! All of the little kids got to decorate their bikes, ride them in the parade, and then the had a little marching band. It was so fun. And actually kind of nice to not have to be around all the people at the Idaho Falls Parade. Although, if we do it again next year, I think the kids will have to throw candy to the parents :) Especially since I’m the one that decorated the bike! I think it looks pretty good though, don’t you?? And the glasses are the BEST part.

After the parade, we had a yummy breakfast complete with patriotic sprinkles for our French Toast. ha-ha.

All the older boys left after breakfast to go for a ride on the Harleys, road bikes, and a few in the Cadillac. So we set up the pool so the kids could swim!

When the guys got back, we had threw together a BBQ for lunch, then it was time to take Triptyn home for a nap. That night we had a BBQ with my family and then headed down to the river to listen to Mike’s dad’s band play. We decided to ride our bikes this year, and it was the best idea ever! I think we will do that again! Triptyn loves music and danced the whole time, I wish I’d had my camera! It was such a great day, we are so blessed to live in this great country! We love spending time with our families, it doesn’t get any better than that!

Circus, Circus!

My nephew, Zach, wanted to go to the circus for his birthday this year. Mike was even a little excited to go, he’s never been to a circus before. Here a few pictures of the night, not sure Triptyn was quite ready for the circus, it was SUCH a long time for a little boy to have to sit still! :)

Before it started we took the boys down to ride the elephant. I wasn’t sure Triptyn would do it, but he ended up LOVING it! He wanted to do it again at intermission, but at $10 per one minute ride….we settled for just looking at them! :)

I promise everyone really was more excited than they look to be there!

The “Globe of Death” was definitely a favorite. Of course, it involved motorcycles. The faces he made were hilarious so of course I didn’t get pictures of any of them, but this blank stare gives you an idea.

the big {24}

In June, Mike turned the big 24! I made him an “Upside Down German Chocolate” cake. (I know it looks kinda disgusting, but I promise it was really good) I hate German Chocolate cake, and I even think it’s good! Triptyn helped him blow out the candles and still walks around the house singing “Happy Birthday to Daddy!” It’s super cute. His birthday is on a Sunday (lame) so we kind of celebrated the whole weekend.

On Friday night I took him out to dinner….I can’t even remember where we went. ha-ha. Then on Saturday we decided to head up to the sand dunes. We have a Polaris RZR and my husbands whole family share a RZR with four seats. So we took both and invited my parents and nephews to come along! It was a blast until we decided to let my parents take our RZR and we would take all the kids in the four-seater. We ended up rolling it about 4 times! It was scary, but everyone was okay, thank goodness! So we decided next year on Mike’s birthday, we’re staying home. His b-day is jinxed! (Little history – last year Mike went to the sand dunes on his birthday to ride his dirt bike and it blew up on him.)

All things considered, it was a great weekend filled with family and fun! (our two favorite things!)

Camping

We went camping over Memorial Day weekend this year, and yes, we got snowed on! Gotta love Idaho weather!

These are the only two pictures I took all weekend :) But it was lots of fun, Triptyn loves camping!

A couple weeks later, my nephews came up from Utah to spend a week or so. We had lots of fun with them, we love it when they come to visit us. Triptyn asked where they were for days after they were gone!

One day while they were here we went up to Kelley’s Canyon to enjoy the dirt bikes and roast some hot dogs!

We’re looking forward to the next time they come to visit! :)

It's Official

The binky is gone! Yay!

We took it away on Friday and he's been without it since. I seriously have been dreading this because Triptyn was so attached! We cut the nipple off and he was devastated for a little while. :( When he asked for it we gave it to him and told him it was broken, and on Sunday he threw it in the garbage!

He has still been crying for about five minutes when I put him to bed or down for a nap, but I'm thrilled. It went over much better than I thought it would!

Next step....switching to a big boy bed. :)

Another trip to SLC

I feel like the only time I post is after we go to SLC. haha, I guess that's the only time I take pictures! This time we went down for a birthday party!

We got to my sister's on Friday night, basically just in time to go to bed! Then Saturday morning we woke up and it was gorgeous outside! My sister and I went for a walk to the park. She waited to tell me until we got there that we had to walk around 7 times, because that's 2 miles. Do you know the last time I walked 2 miles?? I don't even remember, but all I have to say about that is - I'm a little out of shape. :)

Then someone mentioned motorcycle, so naturally, Triptyn had to go for a ride. Trev, this picture is proof that Triptyn likes you! :)

Triptyn also discovered that playing basketball with his cousins is awesome. He's quite the little ball hog.

After all the fun playing outside, it was off to the party! It was a double party--Teddy's 3rd b-day, and Axel's 1st b-day. It was at Jungle Jim's, which is like a little indoor amusement park. Here's Trip riding on the safari jeeps with Kaden.

The carousel with the horses was, by far, Triptyn's favorite ride. We went on it several times, it's a good thing I don't get sick easily!

Next was the swings...

After Jungle Jim's, we headed over to Little America for some swimming! I didn't take any pictures, but of course, Triptyn loved it. Mike taught him to jump off the side of the pool and oh boy, that was probably a bad idea! He loved it, and that's what he did most of the night. Even after I handed him to Mike, so I could get out, he tried to jump in while I wasn't looking! He would've swam all night if we would've let him.

Sunday was even warmer than Saturday, so we went to the park again. It was so funny, Triptyn had to try and brush all the bark off the steps every time he went up them.

This post is mainly for me. to vent. to remember. this may be a long post.

Last weekend we went down to SLC to see my sister. My mom and i left on Thursday night, my dad was going to come later, and mike was in St. George for the "guy trip". We had lots of fun shopping and even convinced my sister to do a craft! :) We went to this store called the Wood Connection...it's awesome. if you're into crafting. Friday afternoon, mike text me to tell me they were already on their way home (they weren't supposed to come home until late sat or sun morning). With a lot of begging, i convinced him to have his brother-in-law drop him off at Angie's house to stay with us for the rest of the weekend. yay!

It was so much nicer in Utah! We went and played at the park.

Triptyn loves the iPad. every time he sees it - "fishy, fishy" only it sounds more like "sissy" :)

On Sunday, we just hung around the house, Trip had a little bit of a fever, i figured it was just from teething. So we gave him some Tylenol and he basically laid around and wouldn't eat anything all day. he even turned down his favorite cookies. (those frosted circus animal ones) As soon as we got in the car to go home, he was out. so tired. He slept off and on. It was dark by the time we were just south of Pocatello. I was reading on my iPad, when mike told me to check on Triptyn, he thought something was wrong. He had looked in the rear view mirror and Triptyn's arm were moving even though we knew he was asleep. I flipped on the lights and there was my baby.......his eyes were rolled in the back of his head and he was shaking.

wow, even now, as i'm remembering what i saw.....i'm crying.

So i immediately take him out of his car seat and mike pulls over. i tell him no, keep going we have got to take him somewhere. at this point, i don't know how long this has been going on or if it will stop. i tell mike to call 911 and ask them where the hospital is in Pocatello because i have no idea. I'm not really sure how much time passed, it seemed like forever. Triptyn came out of the seizure just after we pulled off the exit. He starts throwing up all over me, which i'm kind of happy about, because it means he's not dead. seriously, i was freaking out. i think his life flashed before my eyes.

So we get to the ER. i can barely check him in, i'm crying, he's crying and throwing up. i can't tell you how glad i am that mike was there to be the calm one. (remember, originally he wasn't supposed to be with me. i think things happen for a reason. i can't imagine if i'd been by myself.) They take us back to triage....his temp is 103.3, he is completely limp and has no color. The nurse takes us right back to a room in the ER, the doctor comes in and asks all sorts of questions. What happened, how long ago, has he had a seizure before, is he sick, did he have a fever? After answering all his questions, he tells me Triptyn had a febrile seizure (his fever spiked really fast and caused the seizure) and it's really no big deal. One kid in twenty has one and it's only a concern if he has another one. they won't run any tests. just keep him here until his fever starts to come down. At this point, i'm thinking "ok, i'm a freak for bringing my baby to the ER when he just had a seizure because it's no big deal." also, i want to punch this doctor in the face.

Triptyn is still crying and they say it's normal for them to be agitated for about 30 min. after having a seizure. well, we are at the ER for almost 3 hours and he's upset the whole time. when the doctor comes to check on him, he tells us he thinks Triptyn is crying "because he can." again, i want to punch him in the face. Triptyn is a good kid and doesn't cry just to cry.

Finally, Triptyn is calming down a little. but he's also basically asleep and we're not sure it's okay if he falls asleep. i mean, the last time he was asleep, he had a seizure! but what do you know? we can't find our doctor or nurse to make sure it's okay if we can't keep him awake. At last, our nurse comes in to check his temperature - 102.8, and tells us he can sleep all he wants. About 20 minutes later, he's back to tell us we can go. they don't any tests, don't even check to see why he has a fever. nothing. Here's my poor little guy a few minutes before we left.

So we continue driving to Idaho Falls - with the light on - neither of us can really take our eyes off Triptyn, we're too afraid something bad will happen if we're not watching. Even though, they told us he was okay, he's still burning up, has had nothing to eat all day, his whole body is still pretty limp, and he's white as a ghost. And yet, this is completely normal according to our wonderful ER doc. Before we go home, we stop at my parent's house so mike and my dad can give Triptyn a blessing. this makes me feel a little better.

That night, we didn't sleep much. My amazing husband said he would stay up for a little while and watch Triptyn (even though he's asleep) and then i would get up in a while and take over watching him. Well when mike came in about 2:30 am, i was so tired and worn out, i told him just to bring Trip in bed with us. :)

Monday night his fever was still 101. so again, he slept with us. i was paranoid he would have a seizure while he was sleeping. another night of crappy sleeping.

His temp is down to 99.4 on Tuesday morning but he's still super tired and has no energy. i had to work, so i got up and got him dressed and he fell back asleep on my bed.

For memories sake, i had to take a picture of the hospital band on his leg. his first trip to the ER.

By Wednesday, his fever is gone and he's not quite as tired.....but now he has a rash all over his stomach. At first, i'm a little worried but decide to wait and see if it goes away. it does. thank goodness.

So now my little guy is back to his normal happy self! Yay! Since Sunday, i've been reading all about seizures, and talking to a co-worker whose son had a couple. apparently where he's had one febrile seizure - he's at an increased risk of having more when he has a fever. lovely. now i can be paranoid every time he feels a little warm.

This was by far the SCARIEST thing that has ever happened to me, but i'm so glad Triptyn is okay. and i'm glad it happened when it did and that mike was with me. but hopefully it won't happen again. :)

St. George

The first week of January we headed down to St. George to enjoy nicer weather! The original plan was to go and help my BFF Deidre and her husband move back to Idaho....but they lied. They are not moving anytime soon. :[ If you know Mike, he was all for going anyway. He would never pass up the opportunity to ride his bike! We stayed at the Crystal Inn, thanks to my dad knowing everyone....he knows the manager there and she got us a sweet deal. Pool side room and all! So here we are enjoying the hot tub, which i think we did at least once or twice every day we were there! Triptyn LOVES the water, and was quite the little fish.

I was able to get together with some friends from high school and do lunch. Of course, i didn't take my camera, so no pictures. It was so fun to see Tina and Whitney again! Tina's little boy is about a month younger than Trip, but it was kind of a forced friendship. haha. Triptyn just wanted to give Colby loves the whole time, and poor Colby wanted nothing to do with it. Hopefully there's no hard feelings and they can be forced friends again next time! :]

The day before we left, we headed down to Mesquite because it was like 10 degrees warmer there and it was time to ride the razor!! For the first couple hours, Mike took Trip and I on a ride. Then Mike's brother and his friends showed up, so of course, Mike needed to go ride bikes with them. There was no way I was going to sit in the truck for a couple hours while they were gone, so we put Triptyn's car seat in the razor and took off to follow the guys! It was tons of fun!

We followed them to their big hill climb and parked it to watch them try and out climb each other.

That night we met Deidre and Jacob at Krave, their favorite frozen yogurt place.

We had soo much fun, it was nice to have a little vacation! It was so good to see Deidre, I wish she didn't live so far away. Hopefully she will be making a trip to Idaho very soon, hint hint. ;]

So it seems a few people have noticed i haven't blogged in like almost 3 months. Even mike said something, i didn't even think he looked at the blog. Fine, here i am. I think at first summer was crazy and i didn't have time to post. and now we don't have internet. plus, i was feeling a little overwhelmed at everything that's been happening, it would take days of blogging to get caught up!

So let's just start fresh. i'll try to be better about blogging from now on. there will be no pictures with today's post because i'm at work, and i don't have my camera with me. so if you only look at my blog for the pictures, you can leave now.

I'm still working two days a week. mike is crazy busy at work, some days he doesn't even have a chance to go to lunch. so we are both excited for when harvest will be over! i don't think i've posted since my new calling at church...i'm the second counselor in the young women's presidency. i know what you must be thinking, the same thing i was thinking when they asked me....are you kidding? i just got out of young women's 5 years ago, i'm way too young for this! but it's been fun, i love the girls and the ladies i'm serving with.

Triptyn is the cutest kid ever, hands down. every day is a new adventure and we LOVE it! he has quite the attitude and stubborn streak, just like his dad. he loves, loves, loves motorcycles....just like his dad. he is constantly busy, with the attention span of a one-year-old. :)

Well, that's my update for now. hopefully more to come later, when i feel like going to my parent's house and downloading pictures on their computer.

Saturday was Triptyn's first birthday! It was such a great day! We had a BBQ with friends and family to celebrate! I had this brilliant idea to make jungle animal cupcakes........half the day later, here they are! never again will i attempt this! haha, the things we do for baby's first birthday!

Update

Wow, i can't believe it's already been a month since i last updated this thing......i guess i don't really feel the need to anymore since no one reads it! the only reason i ever post pictures is more for my own keepsake, in case i ever decide to make my blog a book.
Anyways, the last month has been crazy! Mike and i both celebrated our 23rd birthdays! woohoo!
we went on a road trip to mt. rushmore then on to north dakota so mike and triptyn could meet all of my dad's family. we had such a good time, but it sure was nice to come home! we took tons of pics, like over 500. maybe someday soon when my internet at home is working, i will post some of them.
my little triptyn will be 11 months old on thursday....he's growing up so fast, but we love every minute of it. only a month left and he'll be ONE! i can't believe it. he keeps us on our toes and we never know what he'll do next. he did take his first few steps without holding on to anything on saturday, but nothing since then.
Hopefully summer weather will come soon so we can be outside enjoying it! i hope everyone has a great summer!

St. George

I hate surprises, but I LOVE surprising! May 7th was my best friend's graduation from Dixie. I really felt like I needed to go, not only because graduation is important, but because I haven't been down to see Deidre for like a year and a half! Mike had to work and wouldn't let me drive down by myself, so I asked my parents to come along! And, of course, I didn't tell Deidre we were coming!

Her family took her to eat at In 'n' Out before graduation. While they were enjoying their burgers, we came up behind Deidre and SURPRISE!!!! I loved seeing the look on her face....she had NO idea we were coming!

This picture didn't turn out well at all, because I had to zoom in so far.........Deidre walking through the D getting her diploma for Dental Hygiene! YAY for Deidre!!

We saw this sign at a gas station on the way to Deidre's house after graduation, we just starting laughing and had to take a picture!

Triptyn was a little unsure at first, but ended up LOVING it!

We went out to dinner that night at the Brick Oven. If you're ever in St. George and haven't been there, I recommend it! Our pizza was the best I've ever had!

Triptyn loved swimming so much, we took him later that night when it wasn't quite so hot. Oh yeah, did I mention it was like 85 degrees there?!? oh my, i didn't want to come home :)

* Says ma-ma and da-da, although i'm still not sure if he knows what he's saying
* Sleeps about 10-11 hours at night :)
* Is the cutest boy ever and the love of my life

I'm just going to warn you, this post has quite a few pictures of Triptyn.....so if you don't like seeing pictures of him, you might want to skip this post. Or just don't look at my blog anymore, since he is basically it. :)

While Mike was in Mesquite, Triptyn and I had tons of fun. (see the post before this one to see what a mean mom i am). :)

We played, and played.....

and then we played some more.

But we were SOOO happy when Daddy came home!!

Last Saturday, my grandpa got married. It's not everyday you get to be at your grandpa's wedding! They were married in the IF temple. It was a little different than the other weddings I've been to. They were only married for time, not eternity. Each of them are already sealed to someone else. It was pretty interesting, and I'm glad I was able to be there!

They are also a little bit older than the other weddings I've been to......so they took a little bit longer coming out of the temple!

But we all waited anxiously to see the happy couple!

Later that night, we went over and hung out with the Landon boys while Mandy and Bryan went out to dinner. They took Bridger with them, but Triptyn was excited to play with him when they got back! I'm not sure if he was just so excited to see Bridger or what, but he kept pulling his hair! To make it even worse, he would kind of laugh after.......while Bridger was crying! I sure hope he was just excited and I don't have a little bully for a son!

There's not a whole lot going on in our lives right now, but my bro-in-law, Trevor, informed me this weekend that i am terrible at updating my blog. So here i am. My sister came up last weekend and i was so happy to see her!

Mike left yesterday for St. George/Mesquite to ride dirtbikes for the rest of the week. I was not too happy about this, but soon realized that i have it pretty good when my friend whittney told me her husband was also leaving yesterday....but for FOUR months!!! oh my goodness i feel terrible that i was complaining! a week is nothin compared to that.

Triptyn is growing too fast, of course. He is 7 months old today! He says da-da (he doesn't know what he's saying, just babbling). Mike is thrilled because he doesn't say anything that sounds like ma-ma. :) He loves his solid foods and is such a good eater. We couldn't be any luckier - he really is the best baby. I had to include some pictures.

We also purchased a Tahoe a few weeks ago. I was super excited that i wouldn't have to drive the truck anymore......but four days later it started on fire. So hopefully when Mike gets back next week he will fix it for me.

A year ago this week, my Grandma passed away. It's been a tough year for Grandpa, but yesterday we got some happy news that he's getting married on March 6th! I'm very happy for him, he was so lonely til he met his fiance. (so weird to say that!)

Well, i think that about sums up what's been happening! I'm sure i will have some pictures to post in a couple weeks from the upcoming wedding! :)

Headache

Today Triptyn has discovered he can scream...and he does it often...and loud. When he's playing with his toys, he screams loudly. If he's having a really good time and very happy, he screams louder. But if he is angry, he screams loudest. (i don't even know if that's a word, it looks funny...oh well) Let's just say he's either been very happy or very angry today.

So can i just tell you......today i have a headache.

6 Months

Triptyn had his 6 month well check today. He also had to get shots, I just hate that! He has done pretty well in the past, but today....not so much. It all started when he saw the pediatrician. He's already getting to that stage where he doesn't like people he doesn't know, so let's just say he wasn't very good during the whole visit.

* He weighs 15 lbs. 14 oz. (20th percentile)
* He is 26 1/2 in. long (50th percentile)
* Head circumference is 43.5 cm (40th percentile)

I can't believe how fast time has gone. The doctor gave me the go ahead on baby food, juices, cereal, etc. He also said Triptyn should be sleeping through the night, which he's not. So I asked if he had any suggestions. He said to just let him cry it out. :( So that's what I'll be doing for the next few nights. Wish me luck! On a happier note, here's a look at Triptyn -- 6 months old:

* Sitting up
* Jabbering ALL the time!
* Grabbing for EVERYTHING
* Putting everything he grabs in his mouth
* Eats cereal once a day
* Nurses or has a bottle every 3 1/2 to 4 hours
* Smiles and laughs all the time (especially at Daddy)
* Has only rolled over once...but we're working on that
* Hates being on his tummy
* Is a little momma's boy :)

That's about all I can think of right now. He's so much fun and we love having him as part of our family! Last Friday he also had his 6 month pictures taken! So far I love them! Caralee does an amazing job.

So, Triptyn is six months old on Sunday....and guess what?! His room is officially complete! Haha, I bought these letters for his name as soon as we decided on a name -- just barely finished them last week and hung them up today! I bought the vinyl lettering before the letters. Don't ask me why it took me so long to do them, they were super easy. I guess I just needed to be in the mood!

And my post wouldn't be complete without a picture of the handsome guy himself! Love him!

My New Year's Resolution.....

is to be more thrifty, particularly in my grocery shopping. I just started clipping coupons on Saturday. I'm hoping that some of you might have some tips or suggestions on how to go about this!! Looking back at 2009, I feel like we wasted soo much money that we could've been saving. So here are a few things I'm going to do, but PLEASE leave me comments on the things you do to save money!
-I've decided to purchase the Wednesday and Sunday papers for a couple weeks, to see if it's worth the subscription for the coupons inside
-I'm going to print coupons from the internet
-Instead of my usual trip to the grocery store to buy everything all at once, I'm going to try to shop the sales
So far, that's all my ideas! I really need some help with this! Oh, and I also want to try and cook more at home (I'm terrible at this) so if you have any recipes you'd like to share....feel free!

Christmas '09

We had such a great Christmas this year! It's such a busy time for the Holst Family. All the craziness started when we headed down to SLC the weekend before Christmas to see my sister and her family. I love spending time with them, it had been about two months since I'd seen my sister and I missed her so! I didn't take many pictures while we were there but managed to snap a couple with the boys and Triptyn before we came home.

We got home from Utah about 5 o'clock on Monday night (Mike didn't have to work all week, so we took advantage and stayed at my sister's a little longer) and at 6:30 we had a birthday party for Kaden. Happy 5th Birthday Kado!

On Tuesday I had to work, and then another birthday party for Treyce at 7. I can't believe he's already 4! Happy Birthday to you too Treyce!

The next morning Triptyn woke up about 4:30 to eat, I really wasn't that tired so I figured I might as well stay up and wrap presents. I didn't have any wrapped yet, and didn't know when I was going to have time since I decided to work on Wednesday so I wouldn't have to work on Christmas Eve. I thought I would be tired all day, waking up at 4:30 and all, but surprisingly I was full of energy! Maybe I should wake up that early more often! Probably not.....I enjoy my sleep. When I was on my way home from work, Deidre called me and said she was on my way to my house!! I was super excited since I haven't seen her since August. Hopefully she will move back here when she graduates in May! :)

Thursday, of course, was Christmas Eve. Triptyn and I just hung out until after lunch when we went to my mom's house to finish up some last minute Christmas gifts. That night we had dinner with my brother and his kids since they would be going with their mom on Christmas Day. After dinner we went over to Mandy and Bryan's for some cake and ice cream for Cindy's birthday. That's right......there are three birthday's the week of Christmas in the Holst Family. It makes for a crazy week!

Christmas morning we had to be over to Mike's parents' house at 9 o'clock, so we didn't get to open presents with Triptyn until about 11:30. It's a good thing he had no idea what was going on and didn't care if he even got any presents! :) Considering he's only 5 months old, he did really good opening his presents!

Then it was off to see my family and more presents! Here is Triptyn in his cute new hat from G'ma and G'pa!

He must've really wanted this present...... :)

Actually he was really just interested in eating the paper, the bows, the boxes, and whatever else he could get in his mouth!

This is a little late, but I thought I would do a quick post about Thanksgiving this year. It was our year to have dinner with my family! It's fun to go to St. George every other year, but I have to admit, it's soo nice to just stay home! Especially with Triptyn this year. The festivities started Wednesday night when my mom and I decorated some super cute turkey cookies!

Thursday morning, Trip and I just hung out around the house while Mike went jeepin with my dad. Dinner was supposed to be at 4 o'clock at my brother's house, but we ended up getting there about 5. :) It was soo yummy and there was TONS of food, I don't even think I got to eat some of everything because there was so much. I was so full -- I didn't even want pie!

Triptyn was so good during dinner and just sat in his bumbo so content and quite. I've actually never seen him like that, and he hasn't been like that since! Maybe it was his thanksgiving gift to me...being able to eat dinner in peace without someone having to hold him!

Black Friday shopping didn't even start until 7:30am for my mom and I. Usually we are up with the other crazies at 4am. But this year I didn't feel like there was anything getting up early for. I think I am done Christmas shopping for Triptyn now, I got him some toys 50% off or more.....I just love good deals!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, I know we did. Now I just need to get out my Christmas decorations and start playing Christmas music!

4 Months

Yesterday was Triptyn's 4 month well check with his pediatrician. He weighs 14 lbs. 8 oz. (50th percentile) and he's 24 7/8 in. long (also 50th percentile). The doc said he is looking great! He's healthy and getting big sooo fast. Too fast if you ask me, not fast enough if you ask his dad. :) He also had to get another set of shots. He did amazing, he only cried for about 10 seconds. Tough like his Daddy! Here's a cute picture of little Trippy with bandaids on both legs! :)

Thought I would include this cute pic, he's always sleeping with one of his hands on his face. This time his finger was actually poking his eye.....doesn't seem very comfortable to me?!

Today was Triptyn's first bath in the BIG bathtub! At first, he wasn't quite sure what to do...he just laid there. But then he realized he could move around and he loved it! Here's a video, it's kind of long, so you don't have to watch the whole thing, but I just loved watching him splash around. tThe video doesn't do it justice because he stopped splashing as much as soon as he saw the camera :(

Yesterday was Chase's 11th Birthday (gosh, that makes me feel old). Angie took the day off, so I went down on Wednesday night with my parents because Ang has been dying to see Triptyn. It was a quick trip but always worth it! Triptyn didn't want to miss any of the action while we were there, so he didn't sleep very much. He fell alseep long enough for me to eat dinner!

Then it was time for Chase to open his presents.

Oh my, I don't know where time goes these days! I feel like I'm so busy, yet I don't get much done!! :) Well, for some reason I'd been dying to go miniature golfing.....so we went one Monday night for FHE a couple weeks ago. It was tons of fun and I almost beat Mike!

Before the snow flies, Triptyn had to ride his 50! It was a little chilly outside so we dressed him nice 'n' warm and he went for a ride with Daddy! I'm not exactly sure he liked it....wait, of course he did, he's a Holst, right?! Well he didn't cry, so that's good.

Let's see, after that comes the Pumpkin Patch..........we've gone there every year to pick our own pumpkins! Here's Mike and Triptyn on our way into the patch. Can't you just see the anticipation on their faces?! They were pretty excited.

There were rows and rows of pumpkins! On the other side of the road were even more pumpkins. If it wasn't soo cold, I could've been there for hours searching for the perfect pumpkin...........

But it was cold, so we pretty much grabbed the first good one we saw, took a few pictures and then went to enjoy some hot chocolate and donut holes!

More pictures to come after we carve our pumpkins next week! (we didn't want to carve them too soon so they wouldn't get all wrinkly)

Triptyn's First Haircut

On Friday, Sept. 25, at only 10 weeks old--Triptyn had to get his first haircut! His hair was getting was too long, so I took him to a lady in my mom's ward who offered to do it and she wouldn't charge me. For those of you who know me, there is no way I could attempt to do this myself. I once cut Mike's hair, and it was bad. We had to buzz it really short to make it look better. :) Anyways, here are some pictures of my handsome little man. I LOVE that she even put a little cape on him! So cute. And sorry for all the pictures, but I couldn't choose which ones to use--so I used them all! Notice how long his hair is in this first picture.

All Done!!! He sat there sooo good the whole time, didn't make one peep. I'm thinking it's because he LOVES it when anyone brushes, washes, or plays with his hair. And, of course, we had to style it when we got home!!

2 Months

So Triptyn had his two month check up last week. I can't believe how time flies! He's getting so big. He weighed 11.9 oz. (50th percentile) and he's 23.75 in. long (60th percentile). He also had to get shots, and he did so good. The pediatrician's office has been having problems getting a few of the vaccinations, so he has to go back in a few days to get the rest.....hopefully he will do just as good! He is really good at holding his head up, so I've started to put him in his bumbo to see how he likes it. He's not quite sure about it right now, but I think he'll like it because he doesn't like laying down! We've been having tons of fun the last week or so. Saturday--Mike borrowed his parents Razor and took us to the Sand Dunes. Then the next day we went with my parents and Tyler's family to West Yellowstone to have dinner with my Uncle Dewey and Aunt Marsha. Of course we had to wonder around West and go in all the fun shops. Triptyn got a little onesie for a souvenir. It has a picture of a bear picking his nose and it says "Little Booger". It's totally fitting because we call Triptyn "booger" all the time. On Wednesday, it was back to the Sand Dunes with my brother and his kids to play in the lake and roast hot dogs! So I'm playing a little catch up today.......

September 1st meant back to work! I've enjoyed being home for the past 7 weeks and I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't looking forward to going back! My work has been awesome and told me I could bring Triptyn with me to work, so it wasn't quite as bad going back as it could've been.

Triptyn's Blessing Day

We decided to bless Triptyn on August 30th. It worked out well since all the family was already here for the wedding. I'm so glad my husband is a worthy priesthood holder and was able to bless Triptyn. He gave such a good blessing and I love him so much!

A couple weeks ago we decided to go up to Kelly's Canyon again so that I could actually ride my motorbike on some trails rather than a gravel road. It was my first trail ride in over a year! My mom and Ethan came along to keep on eye on Triptyn while I was gone riding with my dad.

Triptyn loves being outside, he slept the whole time! (Unless it was time to eat!)

After we were done riding we decided to stop at Heise and enjoy some yummy pizza!

We even called Mike and he decided to drive up and meet us for dinner.

So last week my BFF, Deidre, came up to Idaho for a much needed visit. (I don't know if she needed it, but I did!) :]

Deidre, Dana, and I decided to go out to lunch. We haven't all hung out since high school and I hadn't seen Dana since Deidre's wedding! It was so good to catch up! First we headed to Papa Kelsey's where we all enjoyed delicious ham and cheese sandwiches! Then it was over to Dairy Queen for some ice cream! I have been loving cherry dipped cones the past few weeks! :]

The employees at Dairy Queen seem to have a little trouble with their dipped cones.....here is a picture of my cone that I had a VERY hard time eating! And if you look in the background you can see Deidre's, which was not any better.

It was so good to hang out with the girls for a little while! I miss Deidre already! Love ya Dee! Come visit again soon!!!

Haha, that is so true. I know you guys are probably wondering if anything happen's in the Holst Family these days that doesn't have to do with pregnancy and baby, but bare with me for this post.

I need some advice from those of you who have children. Apparently, you need to find a pediatrician before the baby arrives, so I'm looking for recommendations! Who you go to, what they're like, anyone you wouldn't recommend? Basically any advice you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

And I promise I will post some pictures soon, but they will probably have to do with baby or pregnancy....sorry! :)

Quick Update!

I have been terrible about blogging lately.....so much is happening, but I just don't feel like sitting down at the computer! It's probably due to the fact that's it's finally getting nice outside! Anyways...here's what has been happening with us. The end of April we went to Supercross in Salt Lake City....it was a little cold, but still fun!
May 5th was our TWO year anniversary!!! I can't believe how fast it went! Mike sent me some beautiful roses. I didn't answer the door because I was home alone, so they took them to my neighbor's house! I felt bad because she probably opened the door and thought they were for her! I know I would've been disappointed when the delivery guy was like "Hey, these aren't for you, they are for your neighbor!"
On May 9th my sister and mom threw me a baby shower. They did such a good job with the games and especially the food!! It was sooo good! They are so awesome! And so are the rest of my family and friends, we got a ton of great stuff for the baby. (He still doesn't have a name.....I don't think we are even remotely close to deciding on one either!)
Mike has also been working on putting in our sprinkler system. :S I haven't been much help, obviously I can't do too much heavy lifting.....but it's a big job and I don't envy him!
The baby's room is finally painted, three coats of paint later. Last night my mom and I put together his crib, so it's getting closer to being done.
Well, that's a quick update! Hopefully later I can just post a slideshow of pictures or something, because I know everyone would rather see pictures than read!

This past weekend my mom and I headed down to the great state of UTAH to spend some quality time with my sister and her family. Saturday was full of shopping! We mostly went to all the baby stores, since Salt Lake has a much better selection than Idaho Falls! I didn't really buy anything big, just some fun baby clothes! I took some pictures of some of my favorites.

All the shopping made me even more excited!

While we were down, they decided to take my nephew's training wheels off his bike. He did so awesome and I just wanted to post some pictures. I'm so proud of him!

It was a fun weekend and I'm excited I get to see them again this coming weekend. We are going down to go to Supercross with Mike's family! It will be tons of fun!

I just had to post because according to my countdown I have less than 100 days to go!! Wahoo! I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to see that counter go below 100. I have so much left to do before the baby comes...but today I finally got the baby's room cleaned out! Now it's time to paint! I've already got the baby's crib bedding and I'm thinking of painting the walls orange. We are getting so excited as July 13th approaches, it's so crazy to think in 97 days I will have a baby! I just wanted to share my excitment with everyone!

Saturday was Mike's first race of the season in Kimberly. We drove down to Twin Falls LATE Friday night. (we left our house at like 10:15pm and checked in our hotel about 1 am!) Saturday morning we had to be to the track by eight o'clock so Mike could register and practice.

For some reason, they started a little sooner than we thought they would. When we got there at 8, his class was already done practicing! He had to hurry and get ready so he could jump in and practice with another class. His bike didn't want to start...the battery was dead, so he had to jump start it with his truck! haha! It wasn't so funny at the time though. I was hoping we hadn't driven all that way for nothing!

When they put the order of races out, Mike's was number 18 out of 20! I had a feeling it was going to be a looong day. For those of you who don't know much about motocross, everyone races once, there is an intermission and then they race again. Mike raced for the first time around one o'clock. We had fun watching a lot of the other races while we were waiting.

The weather was actually suprisingly nice and sunny, but windy as always!! I was prepared for snow, but very glad we didn't get it. It started to rain a little bit just as Mike was getting ready to race his last moto of the day. Perfect timing! His last race started at about six o'clock!! They race about six laps, so it takes less than ten minutes for the race. We had packed everything up before he raced so that he could just put his bike in the trailer and we could leave. I hadn't planned on being out there that long, my snacks were running out and I was getting hungry!!! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We usually have Family Home Evening with my parents and my brother's family every Monday night. Since today is St. Patrick's Day, last night we decided to celebrate! We had dinner and watched a movie. Everything we had for dinner was GREEN. My mom made chicken fettucine with broccoli and colored the sauce green. My sister-in-law made green salad, even the salad dressing was green! And of course, green Kool-Aid to drink. I was in charge of dessert and we had green sherbet with little bite size shamrock cookies. When my mom asked the kids if they knew why everything was green, Cody said it was because we are trying to be more environmentally friendly!! :) After we ate, we watched "Darby O'Gill and the Little People". It's a really old movie, I think it was made in 1959! It was fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with my family! Here are some pictures of our yummy dinner:

Our First Ultrasound

Last Thursday we had our first ultrasound. It was one of the coolest experiences we've ever had!

This is the best profile the technician could get, he said the baby was in a face down position and he couldn't get it to roll over very well. Hopefully this isn't a sign the baby will be stubborn like Daddy!!

This was probably my favorite moment during the whole ultrasound! Seeing the cute little feet just made it soo real to me that there is a baby growing inside me, not just some blob! Oh and for those of you who don't know.....I won't keep you in suspense any longer. Mike and I are having a

BABY BOY!

We are super excited and I just hope that I have a happy healthy baby!

In Loving Memory

I have the best Grandma any girl could ask for. When I was growing up, my grandparents were always at any event that was important in my life. I have several cross-stitches, quilts, and other things Grandma made for me. My grandma is one of the least selfish people I know, she is always thinking of others, especially her family.

Several years ago she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and was not able to do the things she enjoyed anymore. Over the years, it got difficult to watch as the Parkinson's affected her ability to speak, her physical strength, and eventually her ability to eat. The last couple years were the worst and we weren't sure how much longer she would be with us. My Grandma's battle with Parkinson's finally ended when she passed away the morning of February 19, 2009. It was so hard to see her go and she will be missed so much, but we know she is in a better place and we will see her again someday.

Her funeral services were yesterday and they were so good. I felt like it really was a celebration of her life. All four of her daughters gave her life sketch and I learned some things about my Grandma I had never known. All of her granddaughters sang "I Am a Child of God" and the spirit was so strong, I barely made it through the song!

I just wanted to take this last opportunity to tell Grandma how much I loved her. She was such a great example to everyone around her. Our family is so lucky to have had her in our life. I only hope that I am half the woman that my grandma was!

We will miss you and we love you so much Grandma!

2. I love to ride my dirtbike and wish I could ride it more often.

3. I met my husband when I was fifteen and we dated for 5 years before getting married.

4. I miss my best friend, Deidre, and wish she would move back to Idaho. (hint, hint)

5. My closet is color coordinated.

6. My best friends in high school (other than Deidre) were guys. For some reason guys are so much easier to get along with than girls. I would much rather hang out with guys!

7. My ultrasound to find out the sex of my baby is in two weeks from today and I can’t wait!

8. I love being outdoors doing anything, other than working in the yard.

9. I live in a cute yellow house.

10. I hate cleaning, but once I get started, I can’t stop.

11. I love being an aunt. I have ten nephews (soon to be 11) and only two nieces. My family is really hoping for a girl.

13. Halloween is my favorite holiday, I love it!

14. I love buying stuff for other people, I think it's one of the best feelings in the world to give to others.

15. Before I was pregnant, I hated milk and now I drink at least a glass a day. It’s not that much, but considering how much I hate it, it’s amazing.

17. My goal this summer is to plant a garden. I hate, hate, hate gardening and it will probably die, but I really want to do it.

18. I am terrified for my husband to go to Mesquite next week. I can’t handle being at home by myself.

19. Our truck has 1J plates on it because my husband thought it would be quicker to go to Rigby to register it, but didn’t realize we would get 1J plates. It’s embarassing.

20. I love junk food. I could eat it all day everyday….which is very bad. I need to start eating more healthy foods.

21. I can’t handle having the music turned up loud unless I’m alone.

22. I love exercising, I just never find the time to do it. We even bought an exercise bike—I’ve used it once.

23. I wish I was a better cook. And I’m sure my husband does too. :)

24. I really want a fireplace. We probably wouldn’t use it that much if we did have one, but I think they are so homey and comfortable. I don’t think any home should be without one.

The Rubber Band Trick

So today I'm 16 weeks prego. Well, last Friday I wore jeans to work and by 10 o'clock I couldn't stand to have my pants buttoned anymore!! A girl I work with suggested I just use a rubberband to keep my pants up. I didn't realize how depressed I would feel when I wouldn't be able to wear my normal jeans anymore! So I decided it was probably time to buy some maternity clothes. :( My mom and I went shopping all day on Saturday and I must have tried on 50 pairs of maternity jeans. Guess what? They were all too short! So, in other words, I still have no maternity jeans and I'm going to have to keep using the rubber band trick until I can find some. If there are any of you that have freakishly long legs (because apparently I do!!) if you could please help me out! I need to know where I can find LONG maternity jeans!! Thanks! I will try and convince Mike to take some pics so you can all see my little pooch! :)

I hope everyone is having a great 2009 so far. The past few weeks have been so crazy in the Holst family! Between Christmas and all the birthdays in the family, I haven't had any time to update my blog. Mike and I had a great Christmas this year. It all started when we went to chop down our Christmas tree up in Kelly's Canyon. Believe it or not, this was the first year I have ever gone to cut down a tree!

We are so grateful we are able to see both of our families during the Holidays. We had tons of fun celebrating birthdays, having prime rib dinner on Christmas Eve with Mike's family, and spending Christmas afternoon/night with my family. We also decided that Christmas morning isn't that exciting when it's just the two of us. So...we are also very excited that this will be the last Christmas just the two of us! For those of you who don't know, Mike and I are going to have a baby!!! We are so very excited. I'm about 13 weeks along right now, which means we are expecting our little bundle of joy to arrive somewhere around July the 13th. Neither of us really have any preference on whether it's a boy or a girl but judging by the toy Mike recently purchased.....I think he's secretly hoping for a little boy.

Yes, that's right. This little beauty is sitting in my garage right now! I tried to convince Mike to at least wait until we found out the sex of the baby, but Bill's gave him such a good deal he couldn't refuse! haha. I'm sure that either way, our baby will learn to love motorcycles just like their Dad!

A Day in the Snow....kinda.....

Yesterday my Dad called and asked us if we wanted to head up to Kelly's Canyon with him. (FYI: our jeep is the one in the back, my dad's is the nicer one!!) We decided to go and see how our jeep would handle. Sometimes it doesn't like to start, so I have to admit....I was a little worried. So we left the house about one o'clock and met my parents up at the ski hill.

Unfortunately, there was not as much snow as we were hoping. Even though there was only about two inches of snow, my wonderful husband still managed to get us stuck. Actually, it had nothing to do with the snow. I think he was just trying to make it more exciting. Some people try to avoid the big huge ruts, but Mike decided to drive into one. I got out to push, and being the genius that I am......I stood in front of the tire that was spinning, and flipping lots of mud! I should have taken a picture, I was nice and dirty after that!

After about 10 or 15 minutes of trying to get out, Mike decided to get out the jack. We had no idea where my dad disappeared to! It would've been nice to have a little help. Haha. Thankfully, the jack worked wonderfully. We found my Dad about two minutes later!

Mike was really happy when we finally found a puddle that wasn't frozen over. We had to go through it a few times and take some pictures!

Thanksgiving in St. George

So this year we joined the rest of the Holst Family in St. George for Thanksgiving. We had such a good time. I told myself I was going to take lots of pictures. Haha. I didn't. But here are the pictures I did take.

Carving Pumpkins

Last night was our annual pumpking carving for FHE. I just love Halloween!!!

All about My Hubby

1. Where did you meet?

Mike and I met when we were fifteen, but if you want to know WHERE we met....it depends on who you ask! :) I remember meeting him at the mall in front of Subway. My best friend was working there at the time, I was there to see her and Mike came with his friend Aaron (who Deidre and I already knew). But since this is all about Mike, we'll go with his story. We met at a stake dance!

2. How long did you date before you got married?

We dated off and on for five years before we got married. Well I guess it was technically four since we didn't date before we were sixteen! ;)

3. How long have you been married?

We have been married for a year and a half, lovin' every minute!!

4. What does he do that surprises you?

This is really hard to explain and I know it sounds weird, but it really surprises me how much he loves his family and always wants to spend time with them. I thought I was really close with my family until I married into his. They really don't seem that close from the outside, but they are. He's always wanting to go see his parents and his nephews (and niece). I love it! We are always having little family gatherings and they aren't even planned. His family is so important to him and I think it's soo awesome.

5. What is your favorite feature of his?

I seriously love everything about him, but if i had to pick one thing.....I love his eyes! Especially when he's happy.

6. What is your favorite quality of his?

It's so hard to choose just one! I give him alot of crap about it, but he is a tightwad when it comes to money! I complain about it alot, because I like to shop, but honestly I'm really glad he likes to have a nice "cushion" (as he calls it). Otherwise, we would be broke!! I also like how he's always sure to tell me he loves me before he leaves the house, or hangs up the phone.

7. Does he have a nickname for you?

Usually it's just "babe".

8. What is his favorite color?

Pretty sure it's red

Motocross :)

11. When and where was your first kiss?

We were fifteen, I don't remember the date. It was right after a basketball game and Mike drove me home. We sat in his truck talking for a few minutes and he reminded me that he was leaving on a cruise with his family in a couple days. We weren't going to see each other again before he left, so he asked something like if I was going to give him a kiss goodbye. Well, being the innocent girl I was, I was thinking he meant on the cheek....so he went for lips, I went for cheek. It was a little awkward! Knowing Mike, he probably doesn't remember this at all! I barely do, that was six years ago!

12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple?

Probably camping and motorbiking (even though I'm too slow for him!). We also really like to watch movies together.

13. Do you have any children?

Not yet.

14. Does he have a hidden talent?

I know this isn't "hidden", but he's amazing on his motorbike and sometimes I think he doesn't give himself enough credit. He's also extremely funny! He can always make me laugh, even when I'm upset with him.

I love how dependable he is, if he commits to do something-he does it, whether it's his church calling, work, or he just told someone he'd help them out. I have no doubt that he will always take good care of our family.

My cousin, Courtney, and Jake Larsen were sealed for time and all eternity yesterday in the Idaho Falls Temple. We had the opportunity to be in the temple for their sealing. It was so awesome, I just watched her face the whole time and I could see just how happy she was! And from the look on Jake's face, I know he loves her so much and will take good care of her.

She picked a great day to get married...the first day it snowed this year! As her dad put it, maybe Heavenly Father was crying tears of joy--and it was so cold, they froze! I thought that was a good way of putting it because it was snowing when Mike and I came out of the temple on our wedding day. At least we hope they were tears of joy!

She looked so pretty in her dress and her bouquet was gorgeous! It was freezing cold, the snow was wet and we didn't want her hair to go flat, so we didn't take very many pictures. But her mom was smart enough to bring a few umbrellas to protect her for the group picture and a few others.

I'm sure she will love me for putting this picture on here, isn't she so beautiful?! I just love her to death. Her and Jake make such a cute couple, we are so happy for them. After the wedding, we headed to the Sandpiper for the luncheon. It was so fun to watch their slideshow and get to know Jake a little better. Music was the first connection they had, they both love music so much. As a gift at the luncheon, they gave everyone a CD they had made of songs describing their courtship. I thought it was such a great idea! The reception was at the Idaho Falls Country Club (the Webb's are big into golfing!) and it was lovely. My sister had her reception there, and let me tell you..it's changed quite a bit! It is such a pretty building now.

Here is a picture of her cake and her bouquet....love them! Her colors were so pretty and fitting for this time of year.

She had peach rings...I love peach rings! She also had sour patch kids, orange slices, butterscotch candies, hot tamales (I think, didn't try them to find out) and some other red and orange candies.

We had to take a picture at the reception because in the picture we took at the luncheon, I look pregnant...which I'm not. I think it's just the dress I was wearing, which Mike just informed me, is not one of his favorites. =[ Oh well, at least he tried to put it nicely.

Her centerpieces were so pretty too! Basically I enjoyed everything about her wedding/reception. Except for this next picture of Mike and I. Once again, I look fat. But this was the better of the pictures we took together! At least Courtney looked good, that's all that matters.

It was a great day, and I'm glad we got to be a part of it. I know Court and Jake will be so happy, and we wish them all the best. I wish they weren't going to be all the way in Logan, hopefully we will still get to see them alot.

Oh my achin' back!

This past weekend I finally had enough motivation to paint my bedroom. (almost 5 months later!) My mom was kind enough to help me again this time. Apparently she didn't get sick of it like I did. So Friday night we decided to tape. That didn't take too long and I figured we would have PLENTY of time to paint two coats on Saturday. Well my mom got to my house about 11:45 on Saturday morning and we started to paint the corners and around the doors.

About an hour into it, we noticed it was drying really splotchy. I called Lowe's and they said it was probably not mixed well enough, even though I stirred it for about 10 minutes. So we had to drive in to Lowe's so they could put it on their mixer. We finally got back to the painting at about 3 pm. I have this amazing paint gun that you just suck the paint up into the handle, and it makes it go alot faster. I thought for sure we could have the first coat done by 5.......yeah right. We finished it at 7:30, thanks to my amazing paint gun being not so amazing. It wouldn't suck up anything into the handle, so I had to try and fix it. Long story short--the gun worked for the first coat but not for the second. So we didn't finish until midnight! Talk about a long day!

It's time for....

So I don't want to sound lame, but his week I am thankful for my dog, Ginger! Mike brought her to my house about eight months before we got married and it was love at first sight! :) Seriously, I don't know what I would do without her, she always keeps me company when Mike isn't home. If it weren't for her, I would never be able to sleep at my house by myself. She makes a great guard dog. I also think she is preparing me for when we have little kids running around! I mean, we have to remember to feed her, bath her, play with her, find someone to babysit her when we are going out of town and some nights we even have to wake up in the middle of the night and let her outside! Mike even has to take her to work with him because she kept getting out of her kennel.

She loves rocks, sticks, playing ball, and anything else she can chew on. She will even play catch with the rocks if you will let her! And trust me, once you start, Ginger will not stop. She has more energy than any dog I know. Even though we have to go through all this, I love her to death and I couldn't ask for a better dog.
Now everyone knows way more about my dog than they ever wanted to! Maybe one of these days I can talk my husband into having kids and then I can write about them instead of my dog...........someday, I'm sure.

Road Trip

This past weekend we decided to take a little road trip down to Salt Lake City. My sister and her family came up to Idaho Falls on Saturday for my sister-in-law's baby shower. Then we all turned around and headed south! They were just heading home, but we were going down to support Mike's sister, Cindy. Our niece, Teddy Jo, was admitted to Primary Childrens Hospital last Wednesday. She had a tumor on her adrenal gland that had to be removed. Once the doctor got in there, he found out it was wrapped around one of her kidneys. Her parents were faced with the decision of removing the kidney as well. They decided to go ahead and remove the kidney and also to biopsy one of her lymph nodes.
They planned on keeping Teddy there for about a week, but she was doing so well they let her go home this morning.
She is so stinkin cute and we just love her to death! I'm so glad we got to go down and see them while they were a little closer than usual! I can't even imagine what they are going through, but I want them all to know how much we love them and that we are praying for them every day.

We also had fun while we were Angie's. Or at least Mike did......he really knows how to get in touch with his younger half....
It was so good to see everyone this weekend, but it's always nice to come home. Mike looks excited in this picture doesn't he?

Just the Two of Us

It's official.....Mike and I have pretty boring lives! There has been nothing "post-worthy" going on in our lives for like the past two weeks. I've decided it must be because it's just the two of us. What ever the reason is for our lack of excitement.....I felt the need to update my blog with the little excitement we have had.
Last Friday, Mike had a camp out with the young men, while I was home all alone on a Friday night! :( My cousin, Courtney, had her bridal shower on Saturday afternoon. It was nice to catch up with all the fam!
Mike and his brothers joined a city softball league about a month ago, so on Wednesday I went and watched them get creamed! The only game they've actually won had girls on the team......It's a good thing they just go out there to have fun!
On Thursday, we cleaned out our camp trailer and said our goodbyes....it was actually kind of sad to see it go. Pathetic, I know!
Mike left me again on Friday to go to an antique truck show in Salina, Utah. While he was gone, I made dinner for my parents and we hung up a much needed blind over our sliding door. For the past two months all the neighbors have been able to see right in our living room. On Saturday we loaded up the motorbikes and headed up to Kelly's Canyon for the afternoon. It was such a nice day and we had tons of fun. If any of you actually read this, I'm impressed. Now you know what I mean about boring lives!!

This week I am thankful for my home. We were so fortunate to be able to by a house as soon as we were married. That meant we didn't have to rent an apartment and throw our money away. I am so grateful for that. When we went on the cruise this past January, one of our stops was in Jamaica, and it was so sad to see what some of those people were living in. Some of them were living in caves and used whatever they could find (cardboard, scrap pieces of metal, tree branches) to try and shelter themselves from the elements. Some did have houses, but they were barely staying together. It definently made me realize just how blessed we are! And our house is so much more than just a house, it really is a home where we will be able to raise our family. I'm posting some pictures for Cindy, since she hasn't seen the house since we painted. I haven't painted the whole thing yet, I got a little burned out! :)

Wind, Dust, and more Wind!!!

We've just returned from the annual Labor Day camping trip with the Holst family. (Except for Dennis and Cindy, and we missed them!!) We decided to try a new camping spot this year up by Birch Creek. Mike and I turned off the highway about 7:30 Friday night and we thought we knew where we were going since we camped in the area about a month ago. Well we drove for about half an hour and couldn't see any sign of his parents fifth wheel. Neither of us had cell phone service to call anyone. Finally, we had service and Mike called his dad. Turns out, we were like 15 miles past where they were camped!! So we turned around and drove the half an hour back to where they were! It was quite the adventure!

As you can see there were not too many trees around us, but there was plenty of sagebrush! So that pretty much meant no flip flops or capris for the weekend! After we got camp all set up on Friday night, it was time for bed. On Saturday, the guys got ready to go on a serious ride. (which is much too difficult for us girls)

While they were gone, us girls had a nice chance to relax and the little boys (there were no little girls there) had fun playing in the dirt!

And when the big boys got back from their ride, they looked like they had also been playing in the dirt.....or eating it......?

Anyways, after we had all eaten lunch, it was time for everyone to have a little fun together...so we loaded into two rhinos, a prowler, and a four wheeler. We headed up to Skull Canyon to check out some old mines. On the way back we drove up to a big cave. On Sunday, we all went to check out the charcoal kilns. Most of the adults had been there before, but all the little boys really enjoyed learning how they used to make charcoal. Here are some of the pictures I took.

This weekend our awning finally kicked the bucket, thanks to the wind. We were inside eating lunch when we heard a loud snap and walked outside to this......

Other than the lack of awning on our trailer now, we had tons of fun this weekend. Can't wait for next year!!!

Thankful Thursday

I'm stealing this from a friend's blog, but I think it's such a great idea.

Every Thursday I'm going to try and remember to post something I'm thankful for.

1. The first thing I'm thankful for today is my sister, Angie. She lives in West Valley City, Utah, so I don't get to see her very often. I miss her terribly! It's her birthday today, so happy birthday Ang! I just want her to know how amazing she is and how much I love her.

2. I'm so grateful for my mom! Last night she came (with her FoodSaver!) and helped me get some meat ready for the freezer. Then we hung up a giant clock on my wall. I'm so glad she lives so close by and is always there when I need her. For example, about three weeks ago Mike was gone on a boys trip, so I was left home alone. Well Mike calls me about 10 o'clock at night to tell me there might possibly be a creepy guy wandering around Ucon! Naturally, being the wuss that I am, I started freaking out! I called my mom, and she said she would drive out and stay with me! She is the best and I absolutely love her!!!

3. Last night my visiting teachers came. It's so nice to catch up on what's been going on, especially since we have been gone a lot this summer. I have great visiting teachers that try to come every month, and if they can't make it, they call and check up on me. One of them is even subbing my primary class this Sunday, and I am definently gratful for that!

4. I just ate a Twix Peanut Butter and they are amazing! If you haven't tried one, you need to! Especially if you like peanut butter like Mike and I do. I'm so grateful for yummy snacks!

These are just a few of the many things I am thankful for....but there is always next Thursday!!

Dave's Drive-In

So Monday night for FHE, my family decided they wanted to watch Nim's Island. But watching this movie inside on the couch with everyone cramed didn't sound that appealing. So my brother decided to borrow a projector...

And we watched a movie oustide on my parents garage door! It was tons of fun. All the kids in my parents culd-e-sac decided to join us. Since we had to wait until dark to start the movie, it got a little chilly about halfway through, but we had plenty of blankets. Nim's Island was a pretty good movie for those of you who haven't seen it, although I missed the ending due to being a little sick.

Other than the chilly night, it was way fun. We decided that this should definentlybecome a new tradition. Everyone really enjoyed themselves (even though Mike doesn't look that enthused!)

By the way, I cannot believe that this summer is almost over! It has gone by way too fast! Although, I can't wait for fall and some cooler weather.

So I just finished Breaking Dawn over the weekend and LOVED IT. Anyone who has not read the "Twilight Saga" has to read them! This one was definently my favorite, although they were all good. Stephenie Meyer is an excellent author. Everyone who has read them, let me know what you think! (Unless you didn't like them, then I don't want to know!) I'm thinking about reading The Host next, so let me know if it's worth my time or not.

Last night Mike, Chris, Dennis, and I went to the Three Dog Night concert at the Civic Auditorium. It was tons of fun! The concert was sold out, so there were tons of people there. I love going to concerts with Mike's family, because they love music so much. You can just tell by watching them how much they enjoy it. We were probably some of the youngest people there! It was tons of fun though!
